Technologies We Use

At Crown Point Solutions, we work with our clients to select the best software platforms for their business goals. If you have a preferred platform, let us know. We have worked with many, and if we’ve never worked with it before, no problem, we'll figure it out.

We primarily use the Microsoft ASP.NET framework, with our applications using the MVC framework and the C# programming language.

We have installed, configured, and managed several WordPress websites over the years, which is a CMS based on the PHP language. Many people prefer WordPress because of it's popularity, familiarity, ease-of-use, and the many themes and plugins available.

Joomla is another popular PHP-based CMS. The base version is more robust than WordPress, and may be a better choice for some purposes. We have used Joomla for some clients.

Shopify is one of the most popular and feature rich cloud-hosted e-commerce platforms. We've configured multiple websites for clients and have used it for our own products.

Able Commerce

We have used Able Commerce, an ASP.NET e-commerce platform, extensively. Able Commerce is the base software we've customized for National Western Stock Show.

Microsoft SQL

We've worked with multiple types of databases, including flat files, Microsoft Access, and MySQL, but Microsoft SQL is our primary focus due to its industry support and robustness.

Microsoft Azure

Azure is Microsoft cloud server platform, which is feature-rich and very scalable. We now host websites on an Azure server, and have configured and manage Azure servers for some of our client websites.

Office 365 & Exchange

We have used and managed multiple versions of Microsoft Office and Exchange Server over the years, and have expertise migrating and managing these applications that are now offered in the cloud.

Content Management Systems (CMS)

If you prefer a specific CMS, we can work with it. As each CMS has strengths and weaknesses, the best CMS for your business may depend on a number of factors. We prefer to come up with a list of feature requirements, then decide on a CMS. Some of the platforms we've used include:

  • WordPress
  • Joomla
  • Kentico
  • Ektron
  • Weebly

We do e-ecommerce for multiple clients. Our primary client uses a customized version of Able Commerce that integrates with their systems. We’ve found it to be a solid platform. E-commerce has risk as well as opportunity. PCI Compliance standards are enforced by the credit card industry, partly to minimize risk, though related PCI fines also entail risk. We’ll help you figure that part out too. E-commerce platforms we've used include:

  • AbleCommerce (.NET)
  • Shopify (hosted)
  • nopCommerce (.NET)
  • WooCommerce (PHP, integrates with WordPress)
  • NODUS (.NET)

Payment Systems

  • Merchant Accounts
  • Authorize.NET
  • PayPal
  • Amazon Payments

We can adapt to whatever code your software uses, but we primarily code in VB.NET and C# using the ASP.NET platform on Windows servers. For HTML, we now use HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript. We also code on a limited basis with PHP and Java.

We also work with databases: query them, build them, and integrate them. We primarily work with Microsoft databases (MS SQL, MS SQL Express, MS SQL CE, MS Access), but are also familiar with MySQL, XML, and flat file databases.

We have our own hosted server for many years, where we host most of the websites and applications we develop. By managing our own server, we’re able to configure it to suit our clients’ needs. For some of our clients, hosting internally or at other web hosts is the preferred option. We’re happy to support whatever hosting situation works best for you.

Social Media

Social Media is both technology and culture. We manage social media efforts for multiple clients and know the following social media platforms, including:

  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • LinkedIn
  • Instagram
  • Pinterest
  • Buffer (social media publishing)
  • Hootsuite (social media management)

Search, Local Search and Review Sites

These three are highly integrated, so we’ll discuss them together. Google, for instance, has all three aspects. Yelp, while known for being a review site, is also a local search platform. As being found in search engines and having a good reputation are valued by most businesses, we pay attention and help you navigate these ever-changing waters.

We work with all the following, including:

  • Google (including Google Local, Google Places for Business, and Google Maps)
  • Bing (including Bing Places for Business and Bing Maps)
  • Yahoo! (including Yahoo! Local and Yahoo! Maps)
  • Yelp
  • OpenTable
  • TripAdvisor
  • Zomato
  • Angie’s List
  • SuperPages
  • Localeze
  • DexKnows
  • Insider Pages
  • Citysearch

Anything Else?

If we don’t already know it, we can learn it or contract with someone else who does. We’ll be your single point-of-contact and get the job done. Call us today to see how we might be able to improve your business.
